Sun, Sea and Cycling

Saturday 5th of May saw a nine strong group of Spires ladies swap grey skies for blue, as they embarked on a guided cycling holiday in Mallorca. Over the course of a week a total of 315 miles were cycled; some 16,000 feet of climbing conquered and an undisclosed quantity of Cava consumed.

It was a joy to cycle along Mallorca’s quiet, flower-lined, country roads. Highlights include; a visit to the beautiful old village of Petra; the pine-fringed coastline around Betlem and as most roads lead to Manacor, a stop-off at Rafa Nadal’s famous tennis academy.

However the trip wasn’t just about cadence and cogs. Equally important were leisurely coffee and lunch breaks, not to mention fun filled evenings on the beach, beside the azure blue Mediterranean Sea. Plans are already afoot for a sequel, in what looks set to become an annual event in the Spires ladies’ calendar.
